Our Mind is God’s Enemy!

The carnal mind is at enmity with God!

1.     God says we are to, “Rejoice in Him always”:  Our mind says, “I will rejoice when I feel like it.”

2.     God says that whatever we eat or drink should be done to glorify Him

 (1 Corinthians 10:31). The mind says, “If I like it or want it, I’ll eat it.” What a tremendous change would take place in many people’s eating habits if diets were controlled by that which would give glory to God!

3.     God says that if we think another person has done wrong, we should first go to that person and discuss their acts with them. The mind says, “Quick, find someone and tell them what you have just heard.” (Matt. 18)

4.     God says to honor those who have rule over us. The mind says, “I’ll honor them if they are in my political party, and if I like them and if I agree with what they do.” (Roman 13)

5.     God says to thank Him for everything. (Eph.5:20) The mind says, “I’ll thank Him for whatever I like and complain about whatever I don’t like.”

6.     God says, “Fear not.” The mind causes most people to be afraid, dozens of times a day, about things that never happen. But the mind says, “Well, they might happen.”

7.     God says He will work everything for our good (Romans 8:28), and in the same chapter He lists some of the things He will use for our good:  tribulation, distress, persecution, famine, nakedness, peril, sword, death, life, angels, principalities, powers, things present (which would include everything), things to come (eliminating the need to be afraid), height, depth, and other creatures (things).  The mind says, “I don’t believe it.”

8.     God says, “Love others—even your enemies.” The mind says, “I will love t hose I like.”

9.     God says, “Don’t covet.” The mind says, “Ridiculous. How can I keep from wanting something that I want?”       -Merlin Carothers (What's On Your Mind?)

First impressions and honest opinions

How did you meet me and how long have you know me approximately?   I want a totally, 100% honest answer. . . what was your first impression of me??  No falsehoods please! ;)  I'm truly super curious and can't wait to see your comments, so please. . . :) Honest+opinion=keywords. A princess. . .

Ok so I don't really know if this verse exactly goes with my line of thought. . . but I think it  sort of does. . .  A little bit? =) 
"A good name  rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold." Proverbs 22:1
So here's what I've been thinking about. . .
My name, Sarah means: A princess
A princess; a daughter of the king.  For me, since I'm a Christian, that means ALOT!!!  It truly applies to me, to my life.   The meaning of my name signifies to me a way of life.  Something that I need to live up to, as a daughter of the King of kings!   
A princess is something beautiful. Sweet. Graceful.  Lovely.   To be NAMED 'a princess' should bring joy to my soul.  But it only brings a heavy plate full of conviction with a side of longing.  Conviction that 'a princess' does NOT describe me, as it should. And longing that it would.
As a princess. . . I have alot of responsibilities.  And I'm only just beginning to realize the immensity of it.  Thankfully I don't have to take care of them  totally on my own, because, obviously, I would be a miserable failure. I've already proven that!   Thank you GOD for being here beside me, holding my hand, and carrying me through. =)

"Turn your eyes upon Jesus; look full in His wonderful face, and the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of his glory and grace."
These words. . .  are basically. . . amazing.
Once after singing this chorus in church, a young guy gave this challenge:  "Are the things of this earth growing strangely dim to you?"
It was just that one, simple question, but it jumped out at me and has stuck with me over the months.  I cannot sing those words without thinking. . .   Are they?  Is Jesus so much in the fore-front of my view that the things of this earth are fading strangely into the background? Am I truly looking full into his glorious face? Is he more real and lovely to me than ANYTHING else on earth?  Or are they just as important to me?
Anyway, Just a few thoughts. . . this has been really convicting to me. Every single time I sing that song, without fail.  A constant challenge to me. =)

And. . . Yeah, another one. =)

Yep! Another poem!! =)  Even though this one is not original with me, it is totally the prayer of my heart!!   It's so amazing. . .


Lord Jesus, make thyself to me
A living, bright reality.
More present to faith's vision keen,
Than e'en the sweetest earthly tie.
Nearer and nearer still to me,
Thou, living, loving Savior, be. . .
Brighter the vision of thy face,
More glorious still thy words of grace.
Till life shall be transformed to love;
A heaven below; a heaven above.

Another Poem. . . =)

Ok, so I hope ya'll don't get tired of poems, especially if they're not even original with me. But when I don't have time to write my own thoughts, it's convenient to post things that I already have on hand and want to share. =)  This one is a poem my cousin wrote about me a few years back. . .  I love it! And I'm pretty sure you guys will get a kick out of it too. =)

You are the type to get things done
What others never have time for--
To just go out and git er done,
Unless it's yur hated chore.


You are the girl who puts up your hair--
Actually gets dirty,
Gets a little angry, kicks over a chair,
And then turns around and smiles.


You wear any jacket to keep out the cold--
Not for popularity or style.
And yet you are very bold
To go against what others feel is style.


You might stub your toe
And then get quite mad.
Or, you'll break your mom's dish
And get quite sad.


You like scaring people out of their wits
When you stay under water
For several minutes,
And then laugh.


You think it is dumb
When little brother gets to drive,
When you know you are better,
Or have been longer alive.


You hate when others mock
What you're good at.
But then you go and do it yourself--
Well, that's that!


You like to play the piano,
But are too shy to play for a crowd.

                              Wonder

       

                   I can’t quite wrap my mind around

                           The story of creation .

                       And I can’t comprehend in full

                          Your wonderful salvation!

                     Too great for me to understand;

                          I read your wondrous story.

                       Jesus; you are my awesome God!

                           Died? For me to be set free?

                        I look at you with endless awe.

                           My thoughts are admiration.

                        Oh how can I express my thanks

                           For your most true creation?

                      

                         I will live for your glory Lord;

                         And tell my friends and brothers:

                       Repent and serve the one true God,

                          Whose name’s above all others!

                         Oh, your love is too amazing.

                              Your love is so eternal.

                          I could try my utmost- best-

                           I can’t describe supernal!!!
